Global Warming!

How can anyone say that there isn't a problem with global warming? I don't get it! I have seen the changes first hand and I am amazed that anyone can still dispute the effect that it is having on our world. I went on a cruise several years ago with family members that went through the Inside Passage to Alaska. Our cruise ship went into Glacier Bay and we were all taking pictures of the most amazing and huge glaciers. The ice floes were the most beautiful color of blue and the size of them was enough to make a person feel very small indeed. We saw the ice "calving" or breaking off and tumbling into the sea and it was nothing short of awesome. Some of the ice chunks were just floating around the bay with seals on them and we enjoyed the view as we slowly turned our ship around and then left the bay.

Five years to the week later, my family was on a second cruise going the same Inside Passage. It was a different cruise line but it was still such a thrill to be going back and seeing the spectacular ice floes that we had seen before. As we entered the mouth of the bay, a voice came over the speaker telling us that because of the changes in the bay they were now only allowing one ship into the bay at a time and then as we left, another cruise ship would enter.

I was standing on the deck watching as we entered the bay, full of excitement for what was ahead of us. I remembered the glorious view of the blue ice floes and the seals floating in a lazy manner on the broken chunks of ice. But I was so very disappointed when we were told by way of the voice in the speaker that we were in fact IN the Glacier Bay. I couldn't recognize any part of it. There were no seals, no ice chucks, and very little ice floes coming down the sides of the bay. The beautiful blue color was all washed out since the ice floes were so thinned out. There was no "calving" to see. I wanted to just stand by that railing and cry my heart out. The beauty that I had enjoyed only five short years ago, was but a memory, now replaced with something that was in no way spectacular. I don't even remember if I took a picture of it since there was so little to see and not anything to be impressed with.

It has bothered me ever since that last trip as to where my beautiful ice floes have gone. What could cause them to disappear when they were such enormous cliffs of ice that would have taken centuries to freeze that thick. I have been so bothered by this that when I hear people say there is no such thing as global warming it stirs anger inside of me. I wish they could see the changes that I saw - I doubt that they would still say that.

Then one evening when I was watching TV I had an idea of one thing that I feel deep in my heart has to be contributing a great deal to the warming of our earth. The more I thought on it though, the more I knew why I never hear anyone address this one major offense. Whenever the entertainment world is involved in something, and with the advent of the stars getting more and more involved in political events... it's no wonder that this problem will never be addressed.

Every time I watch a television program that uses explosives to blow up buildings, cars, ships, planes... I feel deeply in my heart that this is all contributing to the global warming that is changing our world for the worse and is leading us to the destruction of the earth as we know it. It is enough that with the "progress" that we have made in this world, building tunnels that need holes blown through mountains; with all of the planes in the air that increase the number of planes that are going to crash and explode; with all of the many ways that we use the resources of this earth to build and grow, with a war raging on the other side of the globe that in and of itself is causing enough warming all by itself; with the oil pumps being attacked and sent into plumes of flames and smoke... and then we have to have people blowing things up and causing major warming to the air around our globe - just for entertainment purposes!

We humans are so selfish, as a whole when we don't care about what we leave to our grandchildren, as long as we got to see those cars and trucks explode on our favorite TV program. But who, if anyone, will ever dare to put a moratorium on such programs so that we can slow the drastic changes to our globe? We try to conserve gas, stop using our fireplaces, stop burning the trimmings of our trees and leaves, carpool, consolidate our trips into town so as to keep the emissions to a minimum, and yet huge explosions can rock our world right off its' axis and we call it entertainment!

Long ago I started this site (above) and had every intention of keeping it up and current. HA! I didn't do too well at that idea. So, now I have put the link to it on here for people to see and perhaps I can keep both sites going so that there is something to see there and here as well.

I just might even start posting some of my poems and other writing on here just to share them with the world. They aren't doing anything just sitting in that notebook where they reside. LOL

Blessings to all who visit me here, or there. Think kind and loving thoughts as one day they may be all you have left in your head to entertain you...

WELCOME TO MY WORLD! PLEASE WIPE YOUR FEET.

Welcome! I hope to use this format to let friends, family and others know something about what is going on in my world. It seems there is never a shortage of excitement in it and I never run out of thoughts... so it should be an interesting site when I get it up and running. Please check back often to see what new and interesting things I have found to post here. And may God bless all who enter... My Corner of the World.
